Philadelphia, the city of Brotherly Love (and great food!)

Business took me to Philadelphia this past week, and while we were there, we decided to turn what little bit of extra time we had to go see a sight see and see if we could fine a few unique places to eat.

So this was something new and kinda funny! It is a city tour cart that is leg powered by everyone who is on board. They locomote by pedaling around the city. Apparently, from the sign on the back, its a sight-seeing by day and pub-crawler by night. I can't really imagine pedaling around town after several beers, but apparently they think it will be fun!

The next day, we took a stroll through a park on the way to an amazing ramen joint (that I will rave about here in a bit), and we came across this memorial. It was a somber reminder that our country is only as great as it is because of the lives lost and sacrificed. The picture doesn't do it justice. It is a beautiful reminder of our freedom.

The ramen joint that was previously mentioned is CheU Noodles. The atmosphere for the place was very relaxed, but the staff was absolutely hopping. When we arrived, we were told it was going to be a twenty minutes, however, five minutes later we were sitting down. The restaurant was mostly bar sitting. There may have been table sitting in the back, but we didn't get a chance to back there. The waiter (who is in the blue shirt to the left) was awesome. As soon as we sat down, he asked what we wanted to drink and not even 20 seconds later we had water and the beers we ordered. That is also not a dirty napkin. Erik spilled water on himself.

I ordered the steak yakisoba ramen. I have to say, radishes and parmesan cheese aren't usually things I pair with steak, but holy crap. This dish was amazing! The snap peas worked really well with the dish too. I would certainly order this again.

Erik ordered the brisket matzo ramen. His was a lot spicier, but that brisket was so soft. It just fell apart in my mouth! The matzo ball and kimchi actually worked really well together, despite this probably being the only dish I've ever had that had them both at the same time.

After dinner, we went to the Liberty Bell!

The next day after work, on our way out of town, we decided to stop in at Tony Luke's for a real cheese steak.

It was just as cheesy and greasy as I could have wanted. The picture doesn't do it justice. It was authentic and it was good.

And that just about wraps up our Philly trip. The food was good and the city was beautiful, in parts anyways. There were a ton of places we didn't get to eat, which makes me want to go back and explore some more!
