The world's Best (instant) Ramen: Nongshim Shin Ramyun

It is no secret that I love ramen. If you take a look back to our earlier trip to Philly, we stopped in at a ramen bar that was just top notch, and I was in heaven! When I am at home, however, I don't eat just any twenty-five cent cheapo ramen. I like to branch out and explore. And you would be pleasantly surprised to find out that you can have have top notch ramen at home if you just know where to look.

So what makes this ramen so special? The secret is in the sauce, and in this case, we have TWO packets! The first, or the less shiny packet as seen above, is a fragrant pack of dried whole spices of green onion, garlic, and a few others. The second packet, or the more shiny of the two, contains your standard ramen packet of ground spices.

But its the spices that make this ramen! The two packets offer a flavor profile that is unlike what you are used to out of an instant packet. The spiciness level is also a great find. It straddles the line between too hot and normal, at least to me, but I think that most people would find it on the spicy side.

So, in closing, I am gushing about this ramen. I eat it all the time. Its great as a meal or a snack, and at one dollar a pack? Yeah, I'll take it! Go try it! It is usually in the asian section of the store, not the ramen isle.
