My daughter loves Alton Brown. She loves to cook, and loves all the shows that Alton Brown stars in. So when we learned he was coming to Dayton? It wasn't a decision at all. We bought tickets, and as you can tell from the picture, we were centerstage and just a few rows back. And let me to you...WHAT A SHOW! Holy crap! It was funny and educational at the same time. It was a pleasant mix of stand-up, music, and learning. And it was (mostly) family friendly. There were a few jokes that were definitely targeted at the adults, but were vague enough to go over the kids heads. All in all, I recommend this show to anyone who just wants to have a good time!

Alton started the show with a song, and then donned royal garb to explain to us what he would change if he were a god. Well, I won't spoil what he would change, but he did have a lot to say about a certain hot sauce...

Enough to say that, not only did he dance with a bottle of it, he opined how much Sriracha has impacted his life. The song and accompanying presentation were quite funny. All in all, Sriracha has made its presence known in Alton's life.

Alton then decided he needed a drink and taught us a bit about cocktails. He then selected someone in the audience and made them spin a roulette wheel to see what ingredients would go into the cocktail. The unlucky lady spun rum, pumpkin spice liqueur and cranberry bitters. YUCK!

The next part of the show was really awesome! Alton demonstrated how liquid nitrogen can change the flavor profile of otherwise really, really dreadful cocktails! They froze the cocktail and then drank it when it was like a snowcone.

Another cool shot!

Intermission selfies!

The Alton band then did an homage to both 80s synth pop and popcorn. And then we got to learn all about popcorn! Another person was picked from the crowd and then we got to see it...

Alton brought out a custom popcorn maker that he explained a bit later. We then got to learn about popcorn and exactly how it works. They placed into a balloon what simulated the insides of popcorn to make a working model, which they "popped."

We got to learn a little bit about Alton's childhood science experiments. It was a failure. And after he had grown up, he decided to try to make it again...

Behold the ASTROPOP. And the lucky volunteer from the crowd got to try to catch all the popcorn that this thing launched! It was pretty funny!

And this is a great shot of the popcorn rocket shooting out popcorn. All over the entire stage and all over the audience. We were covered in popcorn dust! It was really fun!

Next was a live Twitter QnA, and I was trying desperately to get a tweet up on the stage. After a few Tweets, someone asked about how to brine a turkey. And Alton's band just so happened to have a song about a grandma's sad turkey.

Jamming out!

And with a poop emoji on the screen, the show was over! Traffic was kind of bad getting out, but its always like that with any show you go to. I had a great time, and Alexis and Erik loved it! I can't recommend this show enough. It was tons of fun!
